The Water Column
According to legend, Tarankawa Indians bent and tied saplings almost parallel to the ground to indicate "good water" to travelers of the Navidad River. If the legend's true, good water almost surely runs across Bermuda Valley Farm south of Schulenburg. Lila Clark's home is a special place where the bent oak below is "a sacred tree" and where the Clark family has lived since 1889
Lila has been very gracious in allowing us to borrow the image of her bent tree for our logo for The Water Column. We aim, with this journalism project, to produce the highest quality water news and analysis for all Texas travelers.
